Welcome back to FIEF Academy for the academic year 2016-2017. We hope that you all had an enjoyable and relaxing holiday.<\/p>\n

I am proud to be a member of the FIEF community. FIEF Academy consistently strives for excellence in Islamic character and education through the outstanding educational program that we offer to our thoughtful, talented, and diverse student. The years of hard work have helped make FIEF Academy a unique institution for Muslims in BC. For that, I feel blessed and grateful to be leading the school this year.<\/p>\n

Our goal this year will be to secure for our students a balanced quality education while maintaining their Islamic identity. We will be offering a balance between academic, creative, athletic, communal, social pursuits and Islamic values with the help of our experienced, supportive and creative staff.<\/p>\n

To achieve our goals this year our dedicated staff have put in many hours of professional learning, planning and preparation for the new BC curriculum designed by The Ministry of Education, where \u201cInquiry and Research Skills\u201d are the main focus. We are adding a \u201cGenius Hour\u201d to our weekly schedule to liven the spirit of inquiry and research, and to allow students to explore their own passions and to encourage creativity in the classroom. To further enhance literacy and numeracy, we are adding a 20-minute practice of Reading Comprehension and a\u00a0 Math drill every morning. In the meantime, maintaining and enriching the students\u2019 Islamic identity will be integrated into our daily routine through Islamic behaviour codes, Islamic teachings and practices as well as competitions.<\/p>\n

FIEF Academy strives to provide an excellent academic program but, by itself and without the commitment of each individual student, success will be limited. We need every student to own their responsibility for their learning and this process begins in the quietness of their homes when parents discuss these issues and help their children to set realistic goals for the year ahead. We would like to encourage each parent\/guardian to be active in their child\u2019s education. We certainly realize that many of you lead busy lives. However, taking just a few minutes in the evening to read to your child, talk with your child about school, or simply see that your child is organized for the next school day can have great benefits.<\/p>\n

We also encourage you to access our website regularly for information and updates. Furthermore, please read the \u201cParent & Student\u201d handbook to familiarize yourself with the school rules, policies and procedures. Abiding by the rules, regulations and guidelines is a major factor in the success of any academic Institution. Following the rules and policies at FIEF Academy \u2013 many of which are derived directly from the Quran and the Sunnah \u2013 should be viewed as an act of worship by FIEF\u00a0 families and employees alike.<\/p>\n
